Readme for system software 7.1.1 PATCH 7

The following changes have been made to our software since the release of system software 7.1.1 . They have been included in system software 7.1.1 PATCH 7 which is available from BinTec's web server for all X-Generation Products.



Changes:
=========


1) Time Server - Advanced Time Request Strategy 
   ( all products )
====================================================

A new MIB varibale (biboAdmTimedBootPolicy) allows changeing the default behavior for time retrieval from a time server. The availbale values are: "normal", "aggressive" and "endless".
In "normal" mode, the gateway sends up to 5 retries after 1, 2, 4, 8 and 16 minutes of timeout. In "aggressive" mode, it sends more frequent retries (after only seconds of timeout) for 10 minutes. In "endless" mode, the gateway sends retries with the same timeouts as in aggressive mode, but does so without a time limit until it has finally retrieved the current time.

After the gateway has successfully retrieved the current time from the time server or has reached the maximum number of retries, it reverts to "normal" mode.


2) IPSec –  IPSec with RADIUS 
   ( all products )

RADIUS support for interface based IPSec connections has been implemented.




Bugfixes:
=========


1) IPSec – Back Route Verify 
   ( all products )
====================================================

Packets were dropped if Back Route Verification was activated on the physical interface over which the IPSec Tunnel was established, and if IPComp was activated on the IPSec connection.

The problem has been solved.


2) IPSec – BRRP & IPSec 
   ( all products )
====================================================

IPSec was not working if BRRP was configured.

The problem has been solved.



3) RADIUS – MS-CHAP V2 & MPPE 
   ( all products )
====================================================

It was not possible to use a RADIUS server for connections using MS-CHAP V2 & MPPE.

The problem has been solved.



4) RADIUS – RADIUS Dialout 
   ( all products )
====================================================

The reload interval for RADIUS Dialout was not working.

The problem has been solved.



5) IPSec – SIF & IPSec 
   ( all products )
====================================================

IPSec was not working if SIF was enabled.

The problem has been solved.



6) IPSec – Rekeying Problem with Interface Based IPSec
   ( all products )
====================================================

When using Interface Based IPSec, the connection will not be usable for a while after a phase 2 rekeying.

The problem has been solved.



7) SIF - Memory Leak with SIF
   (all products )
====================================================

When using SIF, a memory leak may lead to a panic.

The problem has been solved.



8) Setup – WAN Partner IP Menu 
   ( all products )
====================================================

There were a number of small errors in the WAN Partner IP menu.

The problems have been solved.



9) Modem  
   ( x4x00/X8500 )
====================================================

There were a number of errors in the modem driver i.e.

- loss of all modem ports after an analog telephon call
- router reboot 
- modem status does not list any modems
- ERR/MODEM: mdm4507: maple: rx_credit exhausted


The problems have been solved.
